My grandmother turned 83 on December 19. In October she won a free month at Curves so she started going in November. Now my grandma is overweight she probably weighs 180ish and is 5′2 or 5′0. She has asthma, and wears oxygen at night. She takes like 3 drugs a day..not alot by any means.
So for her birthday I paid for her sign up fees and the month of December for Curves. My brother and his wife paid for January and February for her birthday and Christmas gifts. On the 29th, I went with her to Curves so I could pay for January. I picked up a little brochure called SilverSneakers The manager told me that participating insurance companies will pay for memberships in Curves for Senior Citizens. I was thrilled! I was going to pick up the bill starting in March for my Grandma since she has been going 3 times a week. She thinks it is working against her bc on the 23rd she went to the doctor and she weighed 2lbs more. I told her it was muscle gain
So we called her Medicare Gap Insurance and sure enough they participate in Silver Sneakers health fitness benefits. She just needed to take her insurance card to Curves, have them send it to corporate and starting February 1, Curves is FREE!
I was so thrilled! I wanted to take a picture of her working out at age 83, but there were several members in that day. I will have to post a photo of her for you all to see my 83 year old grandma who works out 3 times a week at Curves, while I do NOT work out. Well that isn’t true. I am going to be doing the wii fit and Jillian Michael’s workouts daily.
Check out Silver Sneakers to see if someone in your life can join a health club for free. They don’t just do Curves. Maybe my mom will be able to join a gym for free when she retires later this month. (no hints or anything, mom)
