Inauguration Part 1…the hours before leaving..less than 12 actually

January 20th, 2009 · No Comments

Well tonight I had been invited to go to the inauguration with my friend tomorrow. Then I convinced myself not to go because I hate crowds, I hate crowds where people don’t know what they are doing, and I can NOT for the life of me use a porta potty.  I even called my mom to get the ok that I was not going to regret missing this inauguration. I was regretful on Sunday for missing the concert.

Then I posted on Facebook that I wasn’t going. Then my loving brother told me to get my A** downtown tomorrow or rather later today. I am ready to go downtown now. several hours later.  Mind you this all started at 8pm tonight.

I have a cab coming for me at 6am to take me to my friend’s apt on Connecticut Ave. From there we will take the 7:10 bus to her friend’s house and make our way downtown.

Did you see the weather report? Yes a warm and toasty 33 degrees with a windchill making it feel like 18 degrees. Oh and lets not forget the 1-3 inches of snow expect between noon and 4pm.

This is what I will be wearing:

I have 2 pairs of leggings, a pair of yoga pants, a cuddle shirt, a sweater, a polar fleece jacket, a down jacket with fleece liner, 1 pair of gloves, a pair of mittens, head warmer, 360 earmuffs, a black fuzzy hat, new pair of sneakers to wear with 2 or 3 pairs of socks. a camera with 5 gb of card ready , unfortunately only one battery. my cell phone that won’t work, I have cash, my drivers license, my medical card, a credit card….chapstick, coughdrops, tissues, Anything else that I need?  Oh and some Burt’s Bees hand salve that I think will end up on my cheeks :)  and a small bottle of lotion as well.

So now it is almost 2am and  I will be getting up at 5am to get my many layers on, eat a fiber one bar, drink some water, go to the bathroom in my nice toasty warm bathroom..then head out the door at 6am for my historical day in America.

I am excited don’t get me wrong.  I just don’t like super large crowds and being frozen. But I will get through this fine.

Tune in later for pictures and updates hopefully.
