Post 96: I won and Velveeta Loaf Giveaway

November 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Well remember I told you all about the Pizza Hut Tuscani Pasta giveaway from JerseyBites?  Well I won!  I can’t believe it!   I will definitely do a review of the pasta once I get it!   Kidlet #1 & #3 were not thrilled when there was a commerical on tv featuring the pastas!  Kidlet #3 had mentioned well that is a pound of pasta each since we get 3 pounds!

Now on to another yummy giveaway- Win one of 10 coupons for a FREE Loaf of Velveeta Cheese (up to $9).

To get an entry simply visit the Velveeta Casserole Challenge site and vote for Lori’s Shrimp Stroganoff Casserole. Lori is from The Wooden Spoon.  You just need to enter your email addy, click her name and hit vote!  Very simple and you can do vote daily!   Then head over to Deal Seeking Mom  and post your comment that you voted. You can get multiple entries too for daily voting!  Contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sunday, November 16th. I hope you get some chances to enter!

Now you may ask what in the world would you do with a loaf of Velveeta Cheesy Goodness?  Why you would make the Yummy Cheesy Dip aka Carnivore Queso for the upcoming holiday parties!  Trust me this stuff disappears fast!

Yummy Cheesy Dip aka Carnivore Queso                                                                   (courtesy of JWJ & RetroD)

2pounds of Velveeta cheese                                                                                             1pound of ground beef (or ground turkey)
1pound of sausage (Jimmy Dean was used-any heat level you prefer)
1 can cream of mushroom soup (or chicken)
1 16oz bottle of salsa (or chunky picante-any heat level you prefer)

cut the velveeta into about 1 inch squares
brown the meats
melt the cheese in pot
after the cheese is melted add the salsa and soup and stir well
add the meat and stir in well

only add a little bit of cheese at a time and keep the heat between low and medium. That way the cheese doesn’t burn or really stick to the bottom of the pan.

Serve wtih pita bread, chips, tortillas.  I love putting it on english muffins and toasting/broiling them in the oven for breakfast!

You can make ahead and put in a crockpot to rewarm for a party as well. Brown the meats the day before and melt the cheese the day of etc. It is a very versatile dip!
