Nanny Adventures

This am I was out front fixing the sprinkler to water the evergreens as they are dying because the water isn’t hitting the bottom of the tree properly. sigh.   I come back in to get the kidlet #3 to take to camp.  He tells me he can’t do Math in the car this am as he needs to finish learning his song for Show N Go this afternoon.  I was like what song are you singing?  He said the “American Pie the second part”  I was like you can’t sing that song.

Fast Forward to the car and he is working on math (Good child that he is)  and he asks if he can listen to his ipod.  I said I don’t care as long as your math is correct.  It is 12 problems for review in 30 lessons for summer review.  So he starts singing “Bye, Bye Miss American Pie” .   I said is that the song you want to sing today?  He said yes.   I said “Oh I love that song.”

He then gets to the part in the song that says:

Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so?

He says he can’t say the part about God and the Bible.  I asked why.  He said Hello, they are Jewish and I think they have the Torah, I am pretty sure that is the name.    I then ask if they said they couldn’t use the name God or Bible.  He said it would be rude to.   I laughed silently and said that was very considerate of him.  He goes to a camp that is housed in a Jewish School and they have to have Kosher meals and no meat.  So he is taking this further to not sing songs about God and the Bible. Which is nice.

This also went along with our discussion a few minutes ago about how the Lindberg baby case was only publicized because the Lindbergs were rich and not poor.  That is why kidnappings/murders of kids get publized because of the parents status.   He is sometimes to big for his britches at almost 12.
