So today kidlet #3 had an introduction guitar lesson with a teacher around the corner from us. I found him on a guitar store’s website. He is pretty cool. The kidlet really wanted to learn how to play the guitar. He wants to play Taylor Swift songs among others.
Kidlet has been playing piano for around 6 years so he is ahead in the note learning curve. Which is a plus, the teacher said.
We discovered that he really needs a 3/4ths sized guitar vs the full size bc his arm is a little too odd on the end of the guitar. So we will end up renting a 3/4ths one for probably 6 months while he gets the hang of everything.
I was watching the intro session. It was pretty cool. I was learning the differences between frets and strings. Now can I tell what a note/chord is-heck no! But I know that you need your finger closer to the fret to make the sound.
So we will let Mom know everything we learned today on prices of rental, lessons and what kinda of tuner we need to purchase.
Moral:
Make sure your 11 yr old knows who James Taylor is because he will be learning those songs along with Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell
And add money to your I-tunes account for purchasing songs to play on the guitar.
