A few days ago Kidlet #3 and I were upstairs working on homework. I was in the study on the computer and he was at the table doing his work. Then all of a sudden the music starts playing…yes that music…the ICE CREAM MAN is here!
Kidlet asks “Can I have some ice cream?”
Me: “Sure, but do you have any money?”
Kidlet: “Yes, I have like $60.”
Me: “Ok, go get it and get your shoes on, Will you buy me some too?”
Kidlet: “Yes, what do you want a snoball?”
Me: “No I want a push-up, Strawberry bar or an ice cream sandwich, thanks.”
Kidlet: (rushing out the door and down the steps) ” Ok, be right back”
I go back to the computer while he is getting the ice cream. I am trying to find his religion homework online.
Kidlet;” Back, I got you a giant ice cream sandwich”
Me: “Oh, wow, thank you. Go put yours in the freezer for later after dinner.”
I start opening mine up
Kidlet: “Ok” goes back to doing his homework
As he is doing that I am printing out things from www.mypyramid.gov on food nutrition and the food pyramid for kids. We are going to start on Monday healthy eating habits etc. Side note: This site is awesome if you are looking for worksheets on getting your kids to eat healthier and just notice what they are eating. I will be blogging about it later on.
Me: “Kidlet, this has 38 grams of carbs in this ice cream sandwich! This is horrible for you.”
Kidlet: “You don’t have to worry about that because you are not 40 yet.”
Me: ” Huh?” (very puzzled look on my face)
Kidlet: “Yeah, you aren’t at the”OMG, I have hit 40 and don’t have kids yet phase!” ”
Me: bursting out into laughter ” I am 35 and I do need to worry about my carb intake. You can’t eat too many carbs in a day silly. ”
Moral: Don’t worry about carbs till you hit 40 and don’t have kids. Enjoy those giant ice cream sandwichs paid for by the kidlet till you are 39 and 364 days old. ![]()
