Life as a Nanny - among other things

I didn’t realize I was rich till this morning!

The youngest and I were driving to camp this morning. Somehow the topic of money came up.  He told me I could pay for something. I said how could I?  He said you have $100,000!  I said no I don’t. Why would you say that?  He said because you live with me, kidlet #2, Kidlet #1 and mom and dad..and they are upper middle class.  I started laughing.  He then goes on to tell me his parents have $900,000.  I said what are you talking about.  I was thinking he was talking about the house price, since there is a house near us that is a million two.  He said Mom told me we have $900,000.  I said oh ok. Knowing full well she would never tell him something of that nature like that.

So according to my 11 year old…I have $100,000.   So why am I still working and living in someone else’s house?     Oh yeah I am being frugal..  HAHAHAHAHA.

One of the twins I work with, he is 7, is starting to get the picture of the life he was born to. Walking down the main hall of the house, he said, something to the affect, “this is like a palace I live in.”
I corrected him, no it is like an art museum. He and his brother are starting to ask the price of things and realize that there is no indoor swimming pool or bowling alley at the houses of play-dates.
Dusting? no clue. the 3 housekeepers handle that and I am not sure any of the 5 nannies around here know where the feather dusters are.
The twins are beginning to see the life; their older sisters see that the family is a foundation and that comes with a lot of staff. Nobody talks about how much $ anyone has and they have kind of gotten the drift …. don’t ask.
