for Toodles Tisha the fish is being held at right now, with buriel at 9pm tonight in the backyard.
I got a phone call from Kidlet #3 about an hour ago, and he was crying. He said that Toodles Tisha was dead. That Kidlet #1 found Toodles dead-floating upside down in the fish bowl. I told him I was sorry and I would be home in 15 mins or so.
I come home and come upstairs to find a red puffy eyed Kidlet #3 doing homework. He then guides me to the kitchen table where he says I can go to the Wake for Toodles. There on the table I see this:
Toodles last resting spot is in a lovely blue box with a sentiment from Kidlet #3 saying “He loves him” on the box lid. He had placed this on a sheet of notebook paper stating “Wake”.
Mom, Kidlet #1 and Kidlet #3 went out back and buried Toodles. Kidlet #3 is taking this really hard. This is the first pet that has died. I am so glad his parakeet has not died. He blames himself for not feeding Toodles today and is saying he murdered Toodles. I keep telling him that he didn’t murder his fish.
So how do you get a tween to get over the death of his first pet?
