Troubles in the IT dept at the homestead!

Apparently one of the little kidlets got a nasty virus on the computer.  I saw this thing called “Antivirus 2009″ once it was booted.   Well that is spyware/virus stuff. I tried to open and update AVG and Spybot, but it wouldnt’ connect to the server. sigh.

I happened to mention to my friend about it and she started laughing.  They had just gone through this the night before.  She told me to download these 2 files onto a thumbdrive then open them on the desktop that is infected.

I download the two files: The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool helps remove specific, prevalent malicious software from computers that..  and then the one on CNET.com  Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com

Perfect I thought.  I got the MS Malicious Software running and it finds over 15 things infected. Then for the life of me I can’t open and run the malwarebytes file.   I attempt over 30 times.

I tried both programs on my computer and they work fine, Malware even found 9 programs that were infecting my computer that weren’t picked up by AVG and Spybot. (so try it out).

I think the upstairs computer is fried but I am holding out some more for some people to answer my question on one of my message boards.
